Nans Place
“Nans place”
Welcome to Nans place where it is all about creating special rituals & traditions and really enjoying life’s simple pleasures while being immersed in the true beauty of Mother Natures gift - the breathtaking Sapphire Coast.
Only a few minutes flat walk to stunning Pambula Beach and a short & scenic meander to Lions Beach and the pristine River Mouth the location is perfect for long, joyful & easy days no matter what the season.
Originally built in the early 1970’s this very special home always had personality & staying there always felt warm and welcoming like a big hug. Three years ago Nans place underwent a full transformation. It was lovingly renovated paying tribute to the original feeling, design and decor of the grandparent’s who felt like they had struck gold when they stumbled on Pambula Beach and went on to build their forever home to retire in leaving a legacy of wonderful family experiences & memories.
Perfectly orientated to enjoy your morning coffee or cuppa, the front deck is children & doggy secure & bathed in morning sun & the most perfect place to plan the days activities while overlooking the Kangaroos and capturing glimpses & sounds of the beach just moments away.
Whilst compact in size, the design & interior of Nans place is focused on functionality & spaciousness & is bathed in natural light whilst engaging well with the front & rear gardens. The home & garden setting also offers spaces to come together and enjoy or retreat to for some quiet alone time with a good book or for an afternoon nap.
The inside:
Nans place feels calm whilst also feeling uplifting. Upon stepping inside the original & now bright yellow door the feel can be described as relaxed retro luxury. The main living room is spacious with built in storage full of books, games & blankets for an afternoon snuggle on the couch in winter. The white & yellow kitchen is a true cooks kitchen fully equipped with everything you need to cook up a feast. A central round island bench is the perfect place to leave the ongoing jigsaw puzzle where it won’t be disturbed. The meals/dining is spacious and offers a gorgeous banquet dining table experience perfect for long relaxed meals or post dinner games. Both bedrooms are spacious with excellent beds as well as built in robes and a lovely outlook to the backyard. The main bedroom with king size bed has an ensuite while bedroom 2 has a queen size bed & enjoys another separate bathroom. There is also a European laundry with Asko washing machine and clothes dryer.
Pa’s shed:
Pa’s shed was always a hive of activity for him to tinker and a place where Nan would pull out the old Sunbeam frying pan & cook the most delicious whiting & flathead that they would have caught that very morning on Pambula Lake. These days the tradition of cooking fish & chips there remains but Pa’s shed has also had a makeover and is now a little outdoor eatery/bar with a gas strut window opening onto a servery & on to the outdoor dining table and bench seat which is fabulous for a quick reset. Pa’s shed is also a fantastic and secure storage space for surfboards, fishing rods and beach toys.
The garden setting:
The garden setting is relaxed and becoming more established every day. Whilst Pa’s vegetable patch & fruit trees are no longer, the new lemon, lime & orange trees seem to have a great work ethic & are already providing fruit. The rear garden is fully enclosed for children & dogs & perfect perfect for gathering around the bbq or for a game of quoits, finska & outdoor fun.
The neighbourhood:
Pambula Beach Road & Pambula Beach is a very special place, a true mix of friendly permanents & happy holiday makers making the most of each day. The many local walks & trails take in stunning water views & local wildlife. Beach walks & bike rides on low tide on the hard sand to Merimbula & MItchies Jetty are spectacular listening to the rolling waves and watching out for dolphins and pelicans along the way. The best fun is free in Pambula Beach from collecting shells, foraging through the rock pools, catching worms & pippies off the beach, fishing, picnics, long days swimming, boogie boarding & surfing & even a morning coffee or evening glass of wine on the look out at the beach. There is no shortage of good food and coffee and a walk into the very quaint Village in Pambula itself is picturesque whilst very nearby is Panboola Wetlands, Pambula Merimbula Golf Club & Merimbula airport.
This little treasure is the perfect escape for those who crave the idea of slowing down & turning back the clock for a little while & exhaling. It is ideal for a couple, a family or two couples and is children friendly and dog friendly (upon request).
Nans Place has already provided a lifetime of wonderful times & memories & the aim is for this legacy to continue in the hope that guests may also now experience the beauty, joy and feel that has been cherished over the last 50 plus years.
